Today 16 schools located in Sofia participated in the opening ceremony of The Mini European Football Championship 2012 organised by the municipality of Sofia. The football tournament is taking place at Sportna Sofia football grounds, Borissova Gradina, and the award giving ceremony will also take place here on Friday 1st of June 2012.The football pitch was full of laughter, smiles and excited pupils waiting for the tournament to begin. Each school symbolically represents a country, and will compete against each other.
The Danish ambassador to Bulgaria Kaare E. Janson attended the opening ceremony and greeted the pupils of the Danish Football Team, School 13th, who two weeks ago paid the Danish embassy a visit. His Excellency shook their hands and wished them good luck in the competition. The Bulgarian televisions, the Mayor Mrs. Fandakova and other ambassadors were present at the opening ceremony to support their team.
The European anthem “Ode of joy” was played, cheerleaders were dancing, football referees were waiting for the game to begin, and welcome speeches were held by the ambassadors of Ukraine and Poland – just like the actual surroundings of the European Football Championship 2012, which will begin 8th of June.
